Dear Attorneys,

I began the process of buying a new home, and with that I started looking for an attorney to assist with my closing. I signed a contract for one date, but the attorney I contacted said that the day may change, and I might not be able to close as early as I’d like. Is this typical? Isn’t there any way I can guarantee I close on the date that’s most convenient for me?

Sincerely,

Close to Closing

Dear Close to Closing,

That is unfortunately a reality of purchasing a home. The date of the closing is not always under your control. There are many factors that have to do with the date of your closing. Changes may need to be made due to the bank’s availability, your attorney’s availability, holidays, open permits on your property, issues with the chain of title, etc.

At Wolf & Shore Law Group, we believe that it’s best to be upfront and honest about deadlines and scheduled closing dates. The attorney you spoke with seems to be doing the right thing by warning of you this. If you’d like a consultation regarding your pending closing please do not hesitate to contact our office. We can be reached at 203.745.3151 or info@wolfandshorelaw.com.

Very Truly Yours,

Wolf & Shore Law Group
