How Can TikTok Hurt or Help My Divorce?

TikTok is a social media application that has swept the nation. The app is primarily just videos of dancing, or quick, funny clips. You may think that having a TikTok account couldn’t possibly affect your divorce, custody, or even post-judgment proceedings, but you would be wrong.

TikTok, just like any other social media platform, can be seen by just about anyone. Your soon-to-be ex-spouse, co-parent, or even grandparents of your children, might be lurking there and searching for something. Depending on the content of your TikTok account, they may be able to use those posts against you in certain situations (or at least try).

How, you ask? What harm could a small clip of you dancing with the dog possibly cause? Well, those quick videos may not really impact your family court matter, but sometimes the urge to post a video of venting takes over and you post some content you may later regret (for example, if opposing counsel tries to use them against you).

The other thing you need to consider is whether or not your children are present in these videos. Your co-parent may see that as unsafe, or irresponsible, and try to use the posts against you while trying to gain more parenting access.
