April is National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, an estimated 646,261 children are victims of child abuse or neglect across the nation per year.

The majority of child abuse cases stem from situations and conditions that are preventable. A community that cares about early childhood development, parental support, and maternal mental health is more likely to foster nurturing families and healthy children.
